One of my greatest pleasures in my day-to-day business is talking to other โThought Leadersโ, but I sometimes get the sense that they donโt always think of themselves that way.
A while back, I ran a survey, and everyone who responded saw themselves as a Thought Leader, but when I did the research, the truth seemed a little different.
How can you be a Thought Leader if nobody hears you?
What do I mean by thatโฆ
Well, it is not just the literal; it is also going deeper and letting people see you beyond any carefully curated messages surrounding a person. Those lines have been edited over the years to trot what you think you should be saying and, to a degree, hide behind the norm created by others.
To be seen, you need to reveal yourself.
Itโs not easy to do that on your own.
I recently chatted with Anne McKeown about this topic on my ๐๐ถ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ podcast; she empowers others to speak up, speak up, and show up confidently.
These are the three areas of support Thought Leaders need:
1๏ธโฃ Someone to coach them so they consistently realise their potential and set new goals
2๏ธโฃ A platform from which to be heard by an audience beyond their own group/work/network
3๏ธโฃ Someone to draw their stories, thoughts and resulting expertise to the surface
Part of this discussion is in the short video attached, but if you think you are a Thought Leader and you donโt have those three things covered, then I encourage you to check out the full version.
PS While Anne covers items 1, for 2 and 3, I can help you become a ๐ฉ๐ผ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ in your area of expertise through your own podcast.
Reach out if you would like me to lead the conversation so you are the go-to person who is being truly seen.
